Alpine Meadows Weekend Report & Slo-Mo Backflips: Well, spring is here and Alpine Meadows or “The Meadows of Squaw” was open this past weekend and boy was it fun. The coverage is surprisingly good and AMJ’s are everywhere (All Mountain Jibs). Right off of locals favorite Summit Chair Express you can ski a nice little big mountain line right into the park. I was skiing with Matt Bansak and Kirk Ditterich. Matt was ripping up every bump line in sight, it felt like I was skiing with Johnny Moseley for a couple runs. And Despite Kirks age he continues to show me up and a excellent finder […] Conditions Report Guest Author | May 5, 2014 3 Comments
Trip Report: Southeast Couloir of the South Teton, WY | “One of the Steepest Lines in the Tetons” Upon entering the park [Grand Teton National Park], we found great snow conditions, and were anticipating deep pow skiing, which is like pretty much the best this time of year around here. The video does not do everything justice, as the real accomplishment this day was our friend Baker, who amazingly was boarding with one of the most intense mullet haircuts I’ve ever seen. Myself, Henry, and Baker all agreed it […] Conditions Report Guest Author | May 5, 2014 1 Comment
Tioga Pass Reports | May 1st: False White Peak | May 2nd: Kidney Lake Chute & Mt. Gibbs Yesterday we skied False White from the Saddlebag Lake road. It was a manageable 2 and 1/2 hours from car to summit. For optimum corn I wish we would’ve dropped in around 10:30 but that aspect was still skiing great when we arrived atnoon – good enough to ski multiple laps! This is a great tour for a large group who want to do some party skiing, or skiing naked… […] Conditions Report Guest Author | May 3, 2014 3 Comments
Tioga Pass Backcountry Report: North Peak & Mt. Conness Today we decided to go for a long slog of a tour and explore the area around North Peak and Mount Conness off Tioga Pass, CA. Since Saddlebag road is closed there was a short boot walk and a very long skin past Saddlebag Lake and Greenstone Lake following the Conness Glacier approach. We boot packed the southeast face of North Peak and dropped in around 11:00. […] Conditions Report Guest Author | April 30, 2014 2 Comments

Tioga Pass, CA Backcountry Report: Chalky Snow on April 29th Since we got back to camp I’ve been preoccupied getting tequila drunk and cooking dinner, and then I found out about Timy passing away, and I’ve been fucking bummed. In any case, feel free to edit down anything you see here any way you see fit. Here are a few scattered thoughts: Allegedly Tioga opened yesterday around noon, based on one conversation with a random local. […] Conditions Report Guest Author | April 30, 2014 1 Comment
Ode to Squawโs Final Weekend: One Last Beer from the Keg Many of us have been to parties consisting of a keg, a tall stack of red plastic cups and a couple bowls of potato chips. As the evening comes to an end, the hosts turn down the lights, make a few strategic yawns and subtly suggest that the last guests leave their house. Realizing their efforts are unsuccessful, the hosts give up and go to bed. At this point, there are usually a handful of guys, the โstragglers,โ standing in the dark, right next to the keg, plastic red cups in their hand, pouring each other a final beer or two from the tap. These last stragglers are the most entertaining at the party. The […] Featured Article Guest Author | April 23, 2014 1 Comment
Music Mondays: James Blake This guy is a little different then your average englishmen.brings a whole new sound to the table which is honestly quite refreshing. His name is James Blake and yes he is from London. You could say he first showed up on the scene in the UK in 2008 but he didn’t really start seeing the spot light till he released his self proclaimed album in 2011. Ever sense then he has picked up speed and has produced some great tracks. Blake’s transy and dream like sounds paired with some great vocals creates a post-dubstep like fell. Bottom line is James Blake can lay down some beats. […] Guest Author | February 24, 2014 0 Comments
