[UPDATED April 16, 2023, with Pond Skim Details]

With plans to operate for skiing and riding into May as long as the snow lasts, Breckenridge, CO, will be the place to be this spring! Here is what’s in store for spring skiing over the next few weeks.

This week is the last week of operations across all Five Peaks, and starting Monday April 17, 2023, operations will shift to Peaks 6, 7 and 8 for the remainder of the season. While the Colorado SuperChair, Rocky Mountain SuperChair and Rip’s Ride will remain open through April 23, 2023, on Peak 8, starting April 24, 2023, late season operations will be accessed via the Peak 7 base area and the Independence SuperChair. Please note that also starting April 24, 2023, there will only be intermediate and advanced terrain open and lift operating hours will shift to 9 am to 4 pm.

The BreckConnect Gondola will operate daily through April 30, 2023, for access to Peaks 7 and 8. After April 30, 2023, the BreckConnect Gondola will be closed for the season until it reopens for summer operations in mid-June. This is a part of the resort’s collaboration with the Town of Breckenridge to help support the health of the Cucumber Gulch Preserve and wildlife that migrates through the gulch and under the gondola in the spring.

Please make sure you check current opening times before heading out as the operations may vary depending on conditions. There is no beginner terrain available during late spring operations and all skiing and riding is intermediate-and-above level terrain.

Pond Skim

To celebrate the spring skiing and riding season, Breckenridge will be hosting its annual Splash Into Spring Pond Skim the weekend of April 29, 2023. Back and new this year, the event will take place on Peak 7 for some slipping, sliding, and soaking up the sun.

To register, visit the Breckenridge website which also has more information about Breck’s Splash Into Spring Pond Skim. The pond skim will take place at the Peak 7 base area. Show off your pond skimming skills and your most spring-y costumes for prizes and bragging rights.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Epic Promise Foundation, which supports Vail Resorts employees with emergency relief and educational scholarships. The Foundation provides over $1M annually in employee grants, with donations going directly to employees in need.
