We got to Whitecrest about an hour later and came upon a huge crowd of people working to save a 14′ male Great White that had beached itself. The shark was still alive but not thriving. Several beachgoers were pouring buckets of water over him (some using XtraTuf boots and sandcastle Surf SwellBrains | September 8, 2015 2 Comments

Swell Saturday: Deep Barrel to 20-Foot Alley Oop! Jordy Smith is a pro surfer from South Africa who surfs on the World Surfing League. On a down day last week, Jordy went yard on a wave in Australia called North Point. He gets a ridiculously deep barrel, then bottom turns out of the wave and fing launches himself into outer space. Jordy travels about 20-feet through the air doing an Alley-Oop before landing perfecting back on the wave and surfing on. Unreal. What’s even cooler is that Jordy is a big dude. He’s 6’3″, 190 pounds and can surf and fly like that. Surf SwellBrains | August 22, 2015 0 Comments

Chile Surf & Culture Report: Barreling Waves & Penguins I spent the first two weeks of July surfing at Punta de Lobos, Chile. I surfed with two penguins on my second day. The water is crystal clear, cold (56ยบF), and full of waves. This may be one of the most consistent waves in the world since a large point to the south of the wave blocks the prevailing south winds. The only thing that ruins the wave here is a north wind, which we unfortunately got a healthy dose of this July. When I was here last October, the wave was great 20 out of 21 days. This month for me it was 50/50. […] Surf Miles Clark | July 18, 2015 0 Comments
