Local paddleboarders were stunned when a huge splash occurred out of nowhere on Lake Tahoe, California after a glider attempted an emergency landing and crashed into it. Somehow, the pilot was uninjured and was then rescued with the help of Tahoe-officials and bystanders.
The United States Coast Guard Station on Lake Tahoe and the Placer County Sheriffโs Office responded to a report of a glider making an emergency landing at 4:30 p.m. Saturday about 100 yards offshore and approximately 400 yards east of Kings Beach, according to an eyewitness who emailed the Tahoe Daily Tribune.
The Sheriffโs Office rescued the pilot while the Coast Guard towed the glider to shore with the help of some local paddleboarders, according to the Tribune.ย
“Great team effort with our government partner and local residents of the Tahoe basin,โ Coast Guard officials said in a social media post.
The Coast Guard released these photos of a glider that crash landed into Lake Tahoe this weekend. Thankfully the pilot was not hurt.
