Grand Targhee Resort in Alta, Wyoming, is set to open its doors to skiers and snowboarders on Friday, November 17. However, the season’s start will see a limited portion of the resort’s terrain accessible to visitors, primarily due to slower snow accumulation this year.
“Targhee will open this Friday (November 17th) with LIMITED LIFTS AND TERRAIN. Only Shoshone and the new Huckleberry Conveyor will be open until further notice.”

The resort’s Director of Mountain Operations, Mark Neff, told Buckrail that only the Shoshone Lift and the Huckleberry Conveyor Lift would be operational this weekend, offering one groomed run off each lift and some additional ungroomed terrain off Shoshone.
The resort plans to open more runs and lifts, including Dreamcatcher and the south side of the resort, as snow conditions improve. These additional openings will be announced via the resort’s app.
Grand Targhee’s team will continue to monitor weather patterns for more snowfall to expand the terrain. Despite the limited opening, the resort’s recent expansions and upgrades promise an enhanced experience for visitors. The new Colter Lift on Peaked Mountain, set to open on November 25, will increase the resort’s lift-serviced terrain by 30%. The lift, climbing 1,815 vertical feet, will provide access to diverse terrain, including wide-open groomers, steep chutes, and expansive glades.
