The National Park Service says 67-year-old Stephen McGuire hiked into Devils Postpile National Monument on Monday and was contacted by rangers. McGuire was described as tired and hungry but did not need any emergency assistance.
The National Park Service says his progress along the Pacific Crest Trail had been delayed by storms at high elevations of the Sierra Nevada. His family reported him overdue on May 25. He had last called them from atop Mount Whitney, about 145 miles south of Devils Postpile.
The trail runs through California, Oregon, and Washington.
