A mountaineer from Hong Kong died in an avalanche in Switzerland last Thursday on September 21nd, 2017.

A 4 person mountaineering team was climbing the 13,015′ Eiger when the avalanche came down on them.

One mountaineer was killed and another was injured when snow, ice, and rock came down on the team hitting 3 of the team members.

A 42-year-old man with the last name Ng was killed at the scene and 61-year-old Conway Leung Nim-ho’s leg was broken.

The other two mountaineers were not injured in the avalanche.

A rescue helicopter picked up Ng and Nim-ho only 30 minutes after the accident.

This tour was being lead by Art Vast, a company founded by Nim-ho.

This is the 2nd avalanche death that we know of in the northern hemisphere this season.  They both occurred near each other – one in Germany, one in Switzerland – on the same day – September 21st, 2017.
