The storm that dumped on BC ski resorts Friday evening saw a staggering 21โณ drop on Fernie Alpine Resort.
As you would expect, the dump drew salivating powder hounds on Saturday, resulting in the local phenomenon known as the โCurrie 500.โ
Following extensive avalanche mitigation work, the resort opened its Currie Bowl just after lunch.
By then, hundreds of people had gathered in anticipation of sharing first tracks on the bowl when the rope dropped. The opening of Currie Bowl always attracts large crowds, but Saturdayโs was particularly huge.
