Insta360: The hottest new action camera company in the industry right now. Their mission? To help people capture and share their lives.
Insta360 was founded in 2015 because its creators wanted a better way to share experiences. They had been searching for a 360 camera that would allow them to share great moments with people anywhere in the world—not just snapshots or partial glimpses, but full, immersive moments. When they couldn’t find the right gear to realize this vision, they decided to build it themselves. That’s when Insta360 was born. They haven’t stopped building since.
Insta360 offers over a dozen consumer and professional action sports cameras. Their cameras range from basic, waterproof action cameras with high-quality lenses for personal use to professional-grade recording devices—all of which are on sale now through February 10th, with savings of up to 20%. Get ’em while they’re hot!
SnowBrains has had the pleasure of extensively testing the X3 camera in the backcountry of Utah’s Wasatch Mountain for over a month. We had the X2 last season, and this camera shows significant improvement from that model by having a smaller size, lower weight, longer battery life, higher quality lens, and much more.
The X3 features:
- Powerful New 1/2″ 48MP Sensors
- 5.7K 360 Video with Active HDR
- 72MP 360 Photo
- 4K Single-Lens Mode + 170° MaxView
- 60fps Me Mode
- Invisible Selfie Stick for 3rd-Person Views
- 8K Timelapse
- FlowState Stabilization + 360 Horizon Lock
- Rugged + Waterproof to 33ft
- Powerful AI Editing Suite
- 2.29″ Touchscreen with Tempered Glass
The X3’s sleek, streamlined shape feels great in my ski jacket pocket. It’s extremely quick and easy to whip this camera out of your coat and throw it onto your helmet or the neat invisible selfie stick(more info below). The camera does well in the cold, and its buttons for powering the device on and recording footage make it easy to operate with gloves. It’s dependable, rain, sun, or powder, unlike some other cameras that get finicky when it’s cold out. I’ve already used the X3 in near 0ºF temperatures, and it’s worked like a dream. Then when I get home, the video editing process is made easy and fun with the Insta360 app. There are so many features and editing options to choose from, making this camera extremely intelligent and sophisticated to play around with. Check out some footage below I’ve recently captured from the Wasatch before diving deep into the rest of this review.
