Kicking Horse ski resort in British Columbia, Canada…
Some call it the “Jackson Hole of Canada”.
But, is it?
It is really?
Yes.
Yes, yes it is.
Kicking Horse maybe even better than Jackson Hole…
Having personally spent a season in Jackson and a season at Kicking Horse, I can confidently say that Kicking Horse may even be better than Jackson Hole…
Why?
How?
How could Kicking Horse be better than Jackson Hole?
Well, the equation is pretty simple:
No Crowds:
Kicking Horse has no crowds.
When you venture out into the lift-accessed backcountry, you’re generally all alone & things don’t get tracked out.
Mind-Bending Terrain:
Kicking Horse’s inbounds and lift-accessed backcountry terrain are shocking.
Big, long, craggy chutes, open faces, pillow lines, tree skiing, and even a couple of fantasy lines…
High Snow Quality:
The snow at Kicking Horse doesn’t go bad.
This place is big, it’s cold, it’s dry and the sun doesn’t have much power this far north.
All these factors equate to high-quality snow, all the time.
Honestly, Kicking Horse and/or its backcountry has held powder every single day from around January 1st, 2018 to March 1st, 2018 when we were stationed there…
Using the variables we’ve identified for you the equation ends up being very simple:
Kicking Horse = No Crowds + Mind-Bending Terrain + High Snow Quality
