Miles up high in Tahoe yesterday. image: Carl VH

We went skiing on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe, CA yesterday.

The bottom half was rocky and loggy and not really skiable.  There is only about 6″ of snowpack down there.

The top half held about a foot of high quality powder on top of a thin, but skiable snowpack.

We ripped the top half and hooted and laughed.

We switchback skied the bottom half and were stoked not to have tweaked a knee or anything on all the rocks and logs.

Overall, it was a terrific day with spectacular views and excellent skiing up high.

I hadn’t skied the West Shore yet this season and I forgot how stunning it is up there.

It’s tough to beat Tahoe.  Especially when this place has snow.
