Squaw Valley, CA Conditions Report: Christmas Weekend Pockets of Fun Squaw Valley recently received around 4-5″ of fresh snow right in time for the christmas crowds to enjoy at least a little bit of soft wintry snow. Everyone I know in Tahoe was hoping for a storm before christmas, and though it was small, we got one. It certainly spiced some things up again for a few days. The day started out slow. I rode Squaw 1 from the village and made my way to Siberia. Siberia was alright, the groomer off the top was pretty fun, but it was shaved off and a bit icy at the top. I got a call from a buddy that he was at Shirley, so I headed over to Gold Coast and met up with him at the top of Shirley where he proceeded to tell me about a sick double off Granite. Squaw Valley Conditions Report: 4 Inches of Fun At 6:30am on Wednesday morning, Squaw Valley reported receiving 4″ of snow. At 7:30am they updated their reporting to 2″ noting, “We jumped the gun…” Surprisingly enough, Squaw had not actually jumped the gun. It skied like 5″ and was one hell of a day! The morning was best. While in line at the Funi eager crowd members shared rumors that both Siberia and Emigrant would be on maintenance hold for some reason. I didn’t know what to expect, but Squaw Valley Patrol did a great job of getting terrain open right around 9am.
