Located in the Mayflower Mountain Resort, UT, adjacent to Deer Valley, construction for a new residential community called Velvære has started. Situated on 60 acres of mountain-side land, this ski-in-ski-out community will offer a one-of-a-kind wellness experience in the mountains.

Mayflower Mountain Resort will cover 1,000 skiable acres serviced by five new ski lifts. Extell, the developer behind the project, will also build three hotels and a range of luxury ski-in-ski-out homes. A commercial downtown area will be similar to Park City’s Historic Main Street. The resort was initially planning to open in 21/22, but covid, amongst others, has delayed the launch. The resort is now slated to open for the 23/24 ski season.

The community will consist of a total of 115 residences of various sizes:

  • 12 cabins of around 2,000 sq ft with three bedrooms, starting at $4 million
  • 68 homes of between 2,600 and 4,600 sq ft with 4-5 bedrooms, starting at $5 million
  • 35 custom-built homes of between 6,000 and 8,500 sq ft starting at $12 million

Velvære is Norwegian for ‘well-being’ — embracing the idea of well-being, each residence will have customized wellness features, such as plunge pools, saunas, or steam rooms. The first homes are expected to be completed in early 2024. Aside from wellness offerings in each house, the community will also have its wellness center, situated on 20,000 sq ft.

Residents at Velvære and a select number of club members will have exclusive access to the wellness center, adventure center, and in-house ski lift. The state-of-the-art wellness center will have floatation pods, lymph drainage, hyperbaric chambers, yoga, fitness training, and several pools. The Adventure Center will have family-friendly pools and hot tubs, a restaurant, bar, après ski bar, and other amenities. There will be a dedicated ski lift to access the new Mayflower area from within the residential community.

It will surely be exciting to see not only the Velvære residential community but, in fact, the entire purpose-built Mayflower Mountain Resort when it is completed.
