Mammoth = Bringing Sexy Back

Today was sexy at Mammoth.  There was a strange scent in the air.  Something like coco butter sunscreen and the 1970s mixed together.  Whatever it was, it was clearly infectious.

Girls weren’t wearing pants.  Guys weren’t wearing shirts.  Loud, raucous hooting was omnipresent.  Everyone was flirting with everyone.  1970s ski formations were frequent.  Skiing’s long dormant soul reared it’s heavy head.

Chair 23 was the focal point of the renaissance today.  Participants were either performing for the chairlift riders or were on the chairlift being entertained by the people flowing down.  There is even a solid pond crossing at the bottom of Chair 23 that was getting heavily sessioned.

The best quote of the day was from a girl right under the lift being coaxed into taking a small drop through some peppery rocks:

“I freakin’ hate you sometimes.” – under the chairlift girl

From 10am until 2pm the soul of skiing raged on Chair 23 at Mammoth. 

Around 2pm, many a weary skier and rider headed to McCoy Station and took in the band.  They were even better than yesterday and there was a 3 song encore along with some hard core dancing.

When the band finally stopped and the bar was closed it was very apparent to everyone in the zone that Mammoth had in fact brought sexy back.
