Thanks to one of the snowiest Novembers on record (and we’re only halfway through), Mammoth Mountain, CA, opened early for the season on November 5th.

The resort, the third most visited in the country, opened with four lifts, five runs, and an 11-16″ base. Broadway Express (1), Panorama Gondola to McCoy, Unbound Express (6), and Face Lift Express (3) offered access to Broadway, Saddle Bowl, Silver Tip, Rusty’s, and Lower Main Park with a small terrain park set up.

Thanks to a further five feet of snow since opening day, the resort announced yesterday they will be opening more lifts and more terrain:

❗️OPERATIONS UPDATE❗️

Canyon Lodge and the Village Gondola will open Friday, 11/18, and will remain open daily. Eagle Lodge will open 11/24-11/27 for the Thanksgiving holiday. We will continue to assess conditions to see if we can keep Eagle open earlier than the original 12/16 scheduled date.

Snowmobile Adventures will open from 11/19-11/27, then operate Fri-Sun each weekend before opening daily for the season on 12/16. Woolly’s Tube Park is expected to open for the season on 11/25. Mammoth currently has the most open terrain in the country so get out there and get some!

Winter is off to a great start in the eastern Sierra. Long may it continue…
