Man Found Unconscious in Trees at Copper Mountain, CO Dies | 20th Skier Death in Colorado this Season

A skier has died at Copper Mountain, CO according to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office. At approximately 4:45 pm on Wednesday, March 13, deputies responded to a report of a 63-year-old male skier found unconscious in the trees on the edge of a ski run at Copper Mountain. The victim was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

It’s not clear what killed this skier, but the Summit County Coroner has taken over the investigation into the cause of death. The identity of the skier is being withheld until notification to the next of kin has been made.

Investigators have not said if the man hit a tree or collapsed.

This is the 20th skier/snowboarder death in Colorado this season.
