Mount Bohemia, Michigan, has announced it will open for the 2023-2024 season on Wednesday, January 17. The resort has reported 23 inches of snow this winter, with more expected in the forecast. USA Today recently named Mount Bohemia the best ski resort in the U.S.

Though January 17 is still a little ways off for a quantitative forecast, a series of lake effect storms are forecasted for this weekend through the middle of the month. Long-range models estimate snow totals could be close to 17 inches by opening day. Check out this long-range precipitation forecast from the Canadian Global Ensemble Prediction System:

Mount Bohemia is known for huge lake-effect snowstorms and its steep, ungroomed terrain. Two chairlifts serve up endless laps of adventurous tree skiing or rowdy mogul runs. The resort offers 900 vertical feet and almost 600 acres of skiable terrain. Mount Bohemia offered season passes this season for $109 and sold out in early December. Over the summer, the resort built a Himalayan Salt Sauna, several more yurts, and some trailside cabins.
