NOAA is calling for 8-12″ of snow to fall in the northern Sierra Nevada (including Tahoe) this Wednesday/Thursday.
“A couple of showers possible Monday-Tuesday mainly over the mountains, but a stronger system moves in Wednesday night into Thursday. Snow levels will drop below pass levels. 8-12 inches of snow possible above 5,000 feet. Up to 1” of precipitation in the foothills/mountains, generally light to moderate in Valley.” – NOAA Sacramento, CA
We’re trying to to get too excited, though, as Bryan Allegretto of OpenSnow.com is forecasting only 1-4″ of snow Wednesday/Thursday and he’s usually right…
Tahoe just received rain the past 3 days with some snow up high. Kirkwood reported 8-12″ of snow yesterday. We skied Squaw yesterday afternoon and KT was slushy and fun and a bit sticky down low, but not too bad and it wasn’t raining. Should be more of the same today with a high of 53ºF and a 40% chance of rain showers.
