A rare event happened today in the Sierra. A major winter storm caused nearly 1000 lightning strikes over the Sierra and western Nevada. This storm brought heavy rainfall and mountain snow to the region, with flooding issues for many areas. While lightning is not a rare sight in the Sierra, seeing this much lightning in February is very rare!#thundersnow
