NOAA has issued a Winter Weather Watch for California that is calling for up to 24″ of snow on Sunday/Monday.

* WHAT…Heavy snow possible. Plan on difficult travel conditions. Tree branches could fall as well. Total snow accumulations of 10 to 18 inches, with localized amounts up to 24 inches, are possible.

– NOAA Reno, NV today

This new snow is going to make skiing and riding in Tahoe unreal – like it was after the last strong storm that dropped big snow and left an epic, sunny powder day at Squaw on December 2nd, 2018.

Sunday’s storm is forecast to favor the north (Tahoe) with only a few inches of snow forecast in the south (Mammoth).

  1. BA?…..that guy must be on the payroll of the resorts now. He hasn’t been accurate since the “Tahoe Weather Discussion” days. Once he went to OpenSnow its more like OpenHYPE to generate/motivate Bay Area travelers…..

  2. Let’s just say BA’s numbers tend to reflect what really matters for skiing. NOAA’s warnings are good if you need to plan for a worst case storm response scenario.

Got an opinion? Let us know...
