NOAA: Winter Weather Advisory Issued For California | 3-6+” of Snow Today

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for California.

It’s in effect until 12:00am Wednesday morning.

Persitent snowfall is expected to impact the mountains throughout the day today.

“Winter weather conditions will continue across the higher elevations of the northern Sierra Nevada thru this evening.”

Sierra-at-Tahoe, CA is set up well to see a fair amount of snow throughout this time.

Snow levels are expected to hover around 6,500 ft.

The 6-10 day outlook calls for above average temperatures and above average precipitation in California.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT PDT
TONIGHT ABOVE 6500 FEET...

* WHAT...Accumulating snow over the higher passes later this
  morning into this evening. Plan on slippery road conditions.
  Additional snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches, with localized
  amounts up to 12 inches, are expected.

* WHERE...West Slope Northern Sierra Nevada including Interstate
  80 over Donner Pass, Highway 50 over Echo Summit and Highway 88
  over Carson Pass.

* WHEN...Until midnight.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Be prepared for reduced visibilities at
  times.
