NOAA: Winter Weather Advisory Issued For The Eastern Sierra Backcountry | 4-8+” Of Snow Tonight – Friday

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Eastern Sierra Backcountry in California.

It’s in effect until 11:00pm Friday night.

Persistent snowfall and high winds are expected to impact the area throughout that time.

California:

  • 4-8+” of Snow Tonight – Friday

“A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 11 am today until 11 pm Friday for elevations above 8000 feet in the Southern Sierra Nevada. Many locations above 8000 feet can expect between 4 and 8 inches of new snow.”

The Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for elevations greater than 8,000ft.

The 6-10 day outlook calls for above average precipitation and below average temperatures in California.

FRIDAY ABOVE 8000 FEET...

* WHAT...Snow expected above 8000 feet. Total snow accumulations
  of 4 to 8 inches expected with locally higher amounts near
  ridge tops. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.

* WHERE...Central Sierra, North Kings River and Sequoia Kings.

* WHEN...Until 11 PM PDT Friday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The
  hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening
  commute.
