Aleksander Aamodt Kilde may be the highest ranked Downhill skier in the world, but even he is not safe from getting mocked on social media. The Norwegian ski racer posted a video on Instagram of him enjoying the legendary powder at Palisades Tahoe, CA, the Friday before the Giant Slalom race he was competing in on Saturday, February 25, 2023.

The video features teammates Lucas Braathen, currently the top-ranked Slalom skier, and Alexander Steen Olsen, who won the Slalom event on Sunday, British skier Charlie Raposo, Australian skier Harry Laidlaw, and Norwegian Head Coach Bjørn Fosse. In the video, Kilde wipes out in the powder and takes out a fellow Norwegian skier, as the whole group bursts into laughter.

U.S. ski racer and Olympian Bryce Bennett, who hails from nearby Truckee, CA, poked fun at the Norwegian in the comments, writing:

“I can’t believe you’re a pro. I’m so much better than you!”

The Norwegian Team was not the only international ski race team enjoying the record snowfall at Palisades Tahoe, which now exceeds 500”. The German men’s Tech Team was featured on the Bavarian TV station BR24Sport’s Instagram Account flying through the powder at Palisades Tahoe to the song “Surfin U.S.A.” by the Beach Boys.
