It’s not every year, or even every decade, that you get a chance to witness a total solar eclipse, let alone ski during one. However, that was the case on Monday, April 8, when the much-anticipated eclipse occurred. The path of totality included 17 ski resorts in the Midwest and Northeast and the experience was incredible.

Below are some of the best pictures and videos of this once-in-a-lifetime event. If you’ve ever witnessed a total solar eclipse in person, then you know pictures and videos don’t do it justice, but these are still pretty mesmerizing. For some, a solar eclipse is as addicting as skiing fresh powder, and many Northeast ski resorts and just received 1-2 feet of snow in the last five days. Thankfully Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine all had clear skies for amazing viewing.
