The global ski industry donates $300,000 worth of auction items for bushfire relief!
The world’s best ski resorts and snow brands have banded together for Snow Aid Australia, an online auction for bushfire relief and wildlife rescue with over $300,000 worth of auction items donated from 100 brands. Aspen Snowmass alone has donated $100,000 worth of accommodation and lift passes and Olympic gold medallist Lydia Lassila, former FIS World Champion Laura Peel and big mountain skier Chris Davenport have also offered items.
Bidders can win over 80 auction items for ski and snowboard holidays to Canada, USA, Europe, Japan, New Zealand, and Australia. Add flights with Air Canada to Sun Peaks and Vancouver, the world’s best hotel names, skis, and snowboards from the coolest ski brands, outerwear, base layers, action cameras, and even a North West Territories northern lights safari.
The auction platform, AirAuctioneer.com, have waived their fees, Moulis Legal lawyers are working pro bono, and Jasper Fox Design illustrations, as well as a graphic designer, have both donated their skills alongside a team of admin volunteers. This means that all proceeds will benefit bushfire relief.
Snow Aid Australia has been organized by the team behind SnowsBest.com and @misssnowitall social platform, who have been inundated with items as word got out amongst the ski community that the auction is happening.
“We’ve been overwhelmed by the generosity of the global snow industry,” says Rachael Oakes-Ash from SnowsBest. “They love Australia and have been devasted by the crisis, including fires in Australia’s alpine region, and are desperate to help however they can.”
The auction launches online on February 9 for a live preview before bidding opens for seven to 10 days. Sign up now for auction alerts knowing all proceeds will benefit Red Cross Australia, WIRES, Wildlife Victoria and South Coast Wildlife Rescue.
