Snowbasin Resort, UT, announced over the weekend that it will be opening on Friday 18th November—its earliest opening date ever.

Multiple feet of early-season snow in Utah has meant the resort can start the lifts turning with top to bottom skiing. The resort has seen 54″ of snow this season and has a 32″ base.

The previous four years have seen the resort open on the 24th, 27th, 29th, and 20th of November.

Full statement from the resort below:

We are thrilled to announce we are opening early for the 2022-23 ski season on Friday, November 18, at 9 a.m. This will mark our earliest opening on record in over 80 years of operation.

For this unprecedented opening, we will be welcoming pass holders back for exclusive access over the first weekend. We will be rolling out top-to-bottom skiing from Needles Gondola, Middle Bowl Express, and Littlecat Express. Our popular Wildcat Handle Tow will also be turning for guests to explore nearby park features. Available trails will be posted on our conditions page ahead of Opening Day.

“We’ve always said that as soon as we can open the mountain safely, we will, and this year mother nature mixed with our advanced snowmaking system has allowed us to do just that – and even earlier than ever before,” said Davy Ratchford, General Manager at Snowbasin Resort. “We cannot wait to welcome guests back to the mountain to experience a season that is shaping up to be unlike any other at our incredible resort. If you haven’t purchased your pass yet, now is the time.”

To show our continued appreciation to guests and pass holders, we have committed to holding preseason season pass pricing until November 29. Guests that have not yet purchased their season pass, still have the opportunity to save up to $500 to experience this historic start to winter. Click here to explore pass options now. The Grizzly Center will be open this weekend from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for season pass printing, tuning, rentals, and shopping ahead of opening day.

In light of the early opening, our inaugural season kickoff party, The Moose is Loose, is moving to Thursday, November 17, from 3 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. This free event will consist of a rail jam, ski movie film festival, mountain market, delicious food, and season pass printing.

Opening weekend will be complete with dining options available at the serveries in Earl’s Lodge and Needles Lodge. Pass holders will receive a sneak peek of several exciting new food items debuting this season at the resort.

Pass Holder exclusive access includes Snowbasin Premier & Value Passes, Ikon Pass, and Mountain Collective between Friday, November 18th, and Sunday, November 20th. Premier Pass Holders may redeem Buddy Vouchers and Friends and Family tickets to bring guests. New this year, you can redeem those tickets at online in your account. Tickets will be available to the public starting Monday, November 21st.

Overnight camping for the first Needles Gondola cabins is permitted. Your campsite must fit within the gondola line. You must clean up after yourself and have your site put away no later than 7 a.m. Restrooms will be available throughout the night in the Learning Center.
