Snowboarder Injured In Avalanche Just Outside of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort’s Boundary

According to Jackson Hole News & Guide, a snowboarder was injured in an avalanche just outside of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort’s boundary on Sunday. 26-year-old Alex Thompson was riding just outside of the resort boundary with friends when he traversed over to the top of Air-Force Chute, which set off a slide. The avalanche was relatively small and only about a foot deep.

Alex was skied to the bottom of the couloir by Jackson Hole Mountain Resort ski patrol. Then, two park rangers and the Teton County Search and Rescue helicopter flew him to Moose, where he was moved to an ambulance and transported to St. John’s Medical Center. It was reported that Thompson’s injuries were not life-threatening. At the time of the slide, Alex was wearing a helmet and he had a probe. beacon, and shovel.
