It’s less than 37 days until Mammoth Mountain in California opens for the 23/24 winter season, but for some people, that’s just too long. Following a storm that dropped up to four inches of fresh snow on the area, eager snowboarders were able to hike up and make first tracks in Cornice Bowl.

Photos shared by MammothSnowman.com show the tracks on what looks like groomed snow.

The forecasted storm hit California (and Nevada) over the weekend, bringing the first significant snow to ski resorts and peaks of the state.

Last season, Mammoth had to wait until October 23rd to get its first significant snow. And we all know how last season turned out.

Just 59 days after Mammoth Mountain ended its 22/23 season, the new season is only 37 days away. Mammoth plans to open on November 10th, 2023.
