Squaw Valley ski resort in Lake Tahoe, California will open on Wednesday, November 27th, 2013. It’s just going to be the Gold Coast chairlift & that’s it, but thats a heck of a lot better than being closed. We’ll certainly take it.
The Funitel will be open to get you to Gold Coast but it won’t be open for skiing and riding.
The forecast for the rest of this week isn’t promising any snow, but there are rumors of a more active pattern in Lake Tahoe next week.
AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RENO NV 249 PM PST MON NOV 25 2013 ANOTHER STORM IS PROJECTED TO BRING A CHANGE IN THE WEATHER EARLY NEXT WEEK, POSSIBLY BY SUNDAY NIGHT. THIS SYSTEM HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BRING VERY COLD AIR AND, IF IT TAKES THE RIGHT TRACK, DECENT SNOW AMOUNTS FOR THE SIERRA.
For now, we can all be stoked that Squaw will be opening on time and we can keep our fingers crossed for big snow next week.
