Squaw Valley opened Silverado today at 9am.

Silverado = 500 acres of incredible freeride terrain.

The snow in Silverado was great at 9am.

The snow in the sun got cooked relatively quickly, but it was great for a few hours.

‘The Drifter’ was perfect so was ‘Gotts’ and ‘Frogs & Toads’.

After 4 runs in Silverado we headed over to Alpine Meadows and skied two laps in The Munchkins.  We squeaked through ‘M-Zero’ and it was a blast.

Matchstick Productions filmed a ferocious session of big backflips, large 360ºs, monster hucks, and incredible wipeouts in the Goodwills/Patrol Chute area of Granite Chief Peak.  Pros and Ams alike threw down in true Squaw fashion.

The Palisades did not open today.  The Chimney all avalanched down to ice during avalanche control yesterday, but the rest of the Palisades is looking excellent!  The palisades should open tomorrow morning.
