Squaw Valley Conditions Report: Chalky Icy Fun

Obviously February has not delivered much snow to Squaw Valley this year.  We recently got a bit of colder weather and a few snowflakes.  It didn’t accumulate much but a few inches of new blanketed the slopes earlier this week.  Today all that new snow has been skied off, but it is still quite chalky and fun.  The groomers are best, especially off Siberia, fast and smooth, you can rip em.  Of course the Gold Coast park is open if you’d prefer to catch some air.

broken arrow across the valley with no snow 🙁

On drought years like this, it’s hard to see Squaw and really all of Tahoe suffer.  Looking at the only bright side, the terrain is completely different from last year.  Things got buried quickly last year and didn’t return until summer.  This year the chutes in C2 bowls, KT, etc. are  significantly more extreme due to the low tide conditions.
