Summer at Crested Butte Mountain Resort, CO, Starts This Weekend: Here’s What’s Happening

Crested Butte Mountain Resort opens for summer operations this Saturday, June 17. From mountain biking through our iconic slopes, to taking in the sights on the chairlift, to hiking through trails of blooming wildflowers or having some family fun in the Adventure Park, CBMR has summer activities for every kind of adventure-seeker.  

The Umbrella Bar is Back! 

For the first summer since 2019, The Umbrella Bar at Ten Peaks will open to guests in 2023 for food and beverage service on June 30. Located mid-mountain at the top of the Ten Peaks area with panoramic views of the resort, the Umbrella Bar is Crested Butte Mountain Resort’s most scenic on-mountain destination. It will be serving up eats for the whole family this summer, including delicious sandwiches and salads, along with specialty cocktails.

Twilight Hours and the Pinnacle Race Series Presented by Fox Racing 

CBMR is excited to bring back the annual Pinnacle Race Series, presented this year by Fox Racing! These downhill mountain bike races feature a new course at CBMR each week (weather permitting), allowing guests of varying ability levels to participate. This year, the races coincide with Friday Twilight Hours! Every Pinnacle race is followed by a post-ride awards party on the Butte 66 deck, complete with a free drink (21+) and prizes. Participants and spectators can find everything they need to know about this year’s Pinnacle races (and after-parties!) on our blog. 

Twilight Hours begin on June 30 and continue every Friday in July. On these days, guests with a day ticket or pass can continue riding until 7 p.m. Those who want to arrive later can purchase a discounted bike haul ticket to use starting at 4 p.m. Twilight Nights provide the perfect opportunity for locals to ride after work, and for visitors to get in a few laps as they arrive for their weekend adventures. 

Independence Day Celebrations 

We are once again partnering with the Town of Mt. Crested Butte for a 4th of July celebration! Guests can join us all evening for food and drink specials at Butte 66 and a concert in the base area, followed by a laser show and a fireworks show (weather permitting)! 

Testing the Steeps 

Crested Butte is known as one of the birthplaces of mountain biking, and that is reflected in some of the terrain here — it’s no joke! Summer adventure-seekers will find their challenge in CBMR’s famed steeps. Nearly half (48%) of our bike park trails are rated as black diamond or double-black diamond. 

Wildflower Capital of Colorado 

Crested Butte is the Wildflower Capital of Colorado, and the flowers are already springing to life! The annual Wildflower Festival starts July 7 this year, and the flowers are expected to stay vibrant through July, thanks to the large snowpack we got this past winter.
