La Nina Watch Issued by NOAA | 55-60% Chance of La Nina for Winter 2017/18

NOAA has issued a La Niรฑa Watch for fall and winter 2017/18 in North America. NOAA reports that there is a 55-60% chance of La Nina for winter 2017/18 (full details below). Two of the biggest snow seasons in recorded history in the Western USA were both La Ninas. 2010/11 was a moderate La Nina and the most snow Lake [โ€ฆ]

Farmersโ€™ Almanac 2017/18 Winter Outlook for Canada:

The Farmerโ€™s Almanac just released their 2017/18 winter outlook for Canada this week. Theyโ€™re basically saying this: Drier and warmer than average for British Columbia โ€œBritish Columbia is expected to see below normal precipitation. The Farmerโ€™s Almanac just released their 2017/18 winter outlook today. Theyโ€™re basically saying this: The Western third of the country wonโ€™t be as wet as last yearโ€™s record year.  Theyโ€™re calling for an average precipitation year.  Weโ€™ll take that any day. โ€œOur forecasts are pointing to a return to more normal winter conditions in regard to both temperatures and precipitation. Mammoth Mountain, CA Conditions Report: Closing Day 2016/17 = Day 270!

Mammoth just had an absolutely incredible season. Yesterday was their 270th day of operations and their last of the season. Mammoth had the deepest snowpack in North America (most like on Earth) at over 300โ€ณ this season.
