Four Snowboarders Sue Alta Ski Resort Using 14th Amendment

You did just read the title right… A 501(c3) pendng group (Not for Profit) has just filed suit against Alta Ski Lifts Company and their policy that has banned snowboarders from accessing their lifts. The entire 4 person group who has started a not for profit entitled Wasatch Equality are all listed as plaintiffs in the suit filed in the Utah District Court. Read the whole lawsuit here. The Tahoe Exodus Begins | First Stop: Alta, UT

With the holidays wrapping up, and no change in the forecast for Tahoe, a pattern is starting to develop, the Tahoe exodus. People want to get the hell out of Tahoe, and are starting to leave in droves. I myself decided to take a little time away from Tahoe and search for real snow, so I loaded up the skis and took off to visit a friend in Alta. Alta & Snowbird, UT at 50% of Average Precipitation Right Now

“If it feels like we were gyped of snow in November and December, the numbers concur – map above is % of average precipitation for the last 60 days.” – Utah Avalanche Center It’s not a great sign that Utah is way below average for precipitation the past 60 days. Alta, Utah Inbounds Avalanche Partially Buries 3 Today

AVALANCHE ALTA

Three skiers were partially buried inbounds at Alta ski resort in Utah today. All three of the skiers were quickly excavated and all were uninjured in the avalanche. The slide was triggered by a skier at 11:45am today. The avalanche occurred in the Spot Slot zone above the famous High Traverse. Ski patrol assisted in the rescue.
