UPDATE: Victimsโ€™ Beacons Weโ€™re Turned OFF in Both Recent Teton Mountains Avalanche Fatalities

โ€œWhen Should You Change Your Avalanche Transceiver Batteries?โ€

This is a question that comes up again and again and there are different answers to this question. Weโ€™re going to share with you some of the industry standards that we know of and why they are what they are. The best idea is to be conservative and change your batteries frequently and donโ€™t let you batteries get below 60%. ORTOVOX Recalls Avalanche Transceivers Due to Loss of Emergency Communications Capability

Back in May Ortovox announced a precautionary recall of its Ortovox 3+ avalanche transceivers running software version 2.1. Internal testing by Ortovox identified a software glitch that could cause temporary lapses in signal transmission, potentially leading to a longer search time in the case of a burial.
