California Snowpack Hits Record Low | Entire State at 0% of Avg.

California’s 4 year drought is now looking dire thanks to our nearly complete lack of snowpack. The latest snow survey compiled last week is showing that all of California’s mountain snow survey sites are now at 0% of average for this time of year. 0% is bad and is the lowest survey ever taken at this time of year. “I think the previous low year would be back in the drought of 1977, and at least then we had 25-percent. CA Snowpack at 6% of Average | 15 Ski Resorts CLOSED in CA

The Sierra Nevada water content is offcially at 8% of average right now according to the California Department of Water Resources. That’s 1/3 of the lowest ever recorded for today’s date. California is experiencing its 4th year of drought across the state. This 4th year is the worst yet. At least 15 ski resorts are closed in California right now due to a lack of snow. California Statewide Snowpack Currently at 19% of Average

Yes, we know that California is having a dry year. But, it is interesting to hear just how dry we are. In the Northern Sierra, snowpack is at only 10% of average. In the Central Sierra (Tahoe) the snowpack is at 21% of average. The Southern Sierra is doing the best with 29% of average snowpack right now.
