Mammoth Conditions Report: 15″ Fresh Snow If you’d of asked four days ago about my plans for this winter I would have ticked off a list of sport climbs at Red Rock and a boulder problem or two in Bishop with a jaded comment about how it’ll never snow in California again. The skiing in mammoth was awful. Man-made glare ice, limited terrain, and packed thanksgiving crowds left something to be desired (mostly an early day at the bar, or a visit to the local crag). The last 3 days have been great. Less than 1000 people on the mountain Mon-Wed and a fresh 15″ to boot. […] Conditions Report SnowBrains | December 4, 2014 0 Comments

Eastern Sierra Report: Powder Day in Bloody Couloir I was pretty much ready to throw in the towel and give up on winter for the season. With a rapidly melting snow pack and phenomenal dirt for mountain biking, why fight it? I began settling into my summer routine when mother nature sneak attacked with a nice little thunderstorm. My first thought was of how good the mountain biking would be, but as the storm got colder and flakes began falling my mentality instinctively flopped to skiing. I jumped on my computer to research snow reports […] Conditions Report Josh Daiek | May 29, 2014 1 Comment
Tioga Pass Scouting Report: Ellery Bowl Chutes | + Rainbow Pools Report: I drove over Tioga Pass today around 12:30pm. I didn’t have time to ski but did have time to stop and scope out Ellery Bowl. Things are melting fast on Tioga and you can only fully ski down right now on the far skiers left at the bottom. I skied Chute Out last Friday and it was still good but you can’t ski the very upper section now. It’s all rocks. Poop […] Conditions Report Miles Clark | May 27, 2014 2 Comments
VIDEO: 45MPH Longboarding in Mammoth, CA After skiing Mammoth on Saturday, we drove down from the Main Lodge to the Village. On the way down, we pulled up to these two guys ripping down the road into town. We were blown away. These guys were killing it. At times they went up to 45mph and were often railing turns at over 40mph. It was a helluva multi sport weekend with people bikini skiing, snowboarding, mountain […] Miles Clark | May 27, 2014 0 Comments
Mammoth’s Closing Day: Bikini Skiing, Snowball Fight Parties, Pond Crossing, & Sluffalanches… Today was Mammoth’s closing day. Girls were in Bikinis, people were in costumes, and all we did was train-ski and start sluffalanches and do pond crossings at the base of Chair 23. The skiing was great from start to finish today. The last gondola was at 2pm and it transported you to a bizarre snowball fight-BBQ-last run of the year party. […] Conditions Report Miles Clark | May 26, 2014 4 Comments
Mammoth = Bringing Sexy Back Today was sexy at Mammoth. There was a strange scent in the air. Something like coco butter sunscreen and the 1970s mixed together. Whatever it was, it was clearly infectious. Girls weren’t wearing pants. Guys weren’t wearing shirts. Loud, raucous hooting was nearly ubiquitous. Everyone was flirting with everyone. 1970s ski formation was frequent. Skiing’s long dormant soul reared it’s heavy head. Chair 23 was the focal point of the renaissance today. Participants were either […] Conditions Report Guest Author | May 25, 2014 1 Comment
Devil’s Post Pile Road in Mammoth is OPEN: This is one of Eastern Sierra’s highlights and is a “must do” whether you are a skier or not. After a great day of skiing yesterday, I purchased a bus ticket for $7 and boarded the bus by the adventure center ( bottom terminal of Gondola across from main lodge). Busses run every 20 minutes and private cars are not allowed between 7AM-7PM […] Conditions Report Miles Clark | May 25, 2014 0 Comments
