Mt. Shasta, CA Conditions Report: 5+ Feet of New Snow, 120% Snowpack Attention skiers and winter enthusiasts; if youโre looking for your snow fix, Mt. Shasta is the place to be! Itโs been a wet and wild week here with some of the heaviest precip ever recorded. We finished with almost 10โณ of water falling in town and over 5+ feet of new snow above 8,500โฒ on the Mountain. Mt. Shasta, CA Backcountry Report: 3+ Feet of New Snow Wow, what a storm! Over 3 feet of new snow fell on Mt. Shasta and town at 3,600โฒ shattered the rainfall record with 4.87โณ measured on Friday. The old record of 2.87โณ was set in 1908. And there is more on the way. The snowfall on the mountain was extreme and coming in sheets, the tracks would refill in a matter of minutes. 7 Ski Resorts Close on the West Coast Due to Low Snow Four more West Coast resorts have closed for due to low snow, adding to the 3 Californian ski mountains that closed last week. In Oregon, Mt. Ashland Ski Area, Hoodoo Ski Area, and Willamette Pass Resort have all stopped operations until they get enough snow. Eaglecrest Ski Area in Juneau, Alaska has also suspended operations. Shasta is fully snow covered and still packing an adequate base for all winter adventures. A few passing showers and a small system dropped a couple inches of snow recently. NOAA: 15″ Forecasted for Mt. Shasta, CA Today 14,162-foot Mt. Shasta in Northern California is a monster. Shasta rises 10,000-vertical-feet above the surrounding rolling terrain. Mt. Shasta gets the most snow in California. Mt. Shasta set the US single storm snowfall record at 189 inches of snow (15.75 feet) from February 13th until February 19th, 1959. Shasta is no stranger to big snowfalls and we’re hoping that 2014/15 will be no exception.
