Crystal Mountain Conditions Report | Return of Winter? Something strange happened this past week in Washington. It snowed. Luckily stayed low through the end of the week, so the new snow didn’t immediately […] Conditions Report Chaz Diamond | February 22, 2015 0 Comments

The Rainier 9000: Summit to Paradise Ski Descent With the return of spring weather to Washington (no rain?!) the conditions in the mountains went from sketchy to primed. After allowing a few days for recent snowfall to settle or slide it was time. Ditching the 90 degree heat in Seattle, two buddies and myself decided to have a go at Rainier on Thursday Morning. We pulled out of Seattle at 6am on Wendesday and headed South to Rainier. After securing climbing permits and sorting out all our gear we left the lot around 10am. The temperature was easily in the 50’s as we worked our way up to Camp Muir. For anyone who has done that tour […] Chaz Diamond | May 16, 2014 2 Comments
Mount Rainier Speed Record Shattered on Skis Last Week For a long time, Argentine mountain guide Willie Benegas owned the Mt. Rainier speed record. It’s classically recorded from the Paradise parking (5,400 feet) lot to the summit (14,411 feet) and back via the Disappointment Cleaver route. Willie ran up and ran down after being acclimatized to the Himalaya and did it in 4 hours and 40 minutes, which is insane. […] Miles Clark | June 13, 2013 6 Comments
