Berkshire East, MA, Conditions Report: Fresh Turns in Western Mass Report from Saturday, January 11, 2025 For most East Coast skiers, when you think of ski destinations you quickly look north to the famed ski states of Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. Yet out to the west in the Berkshire Mountains of Massachusetts lies Berkshire East, a mountain that swings above its weight class when it comes to what one […] Conditions Report Liam Abbott | January 16, 2025 0 Comments
Mont Orford, QB Report: A Tough Start to the Season Brought to you by 10 Barrel Brewing Report from December 28, 2020 No matter where you are skiing in Quebec right now, this year has gotten off to a rough start. Promising early-season temperature drops turned out to be just an oddity, and temperatures have consistently fluctuated above and below freezing level, bringing snow and often rain into the mix. This […] Conditions Report Liam Abbott | December 28, 2020 0 Comments
12,397′ Dunderberg Peak, CA Conditions Report: Fresh Snow, Good Crowd, No Vis… We headed up to 12,397′ Dunderberg Peak, CA from Mammoth on Saturday. We met up with a terrific cast of characters and had an incredible time. About 4-8″ of new snow coated the mountain and a thick fog we hoped would lift clung to the mountain like glue all day. The new snow allowed skinning directly to the summit with no boot-packing. […] Trip Report Miles Clark | May 2, 2016 4 Comments
Treble Cone, NZ Conditions Report: Genuine Powder The snow at Treble Cone has been off the charts lately. It’s snowed about 10cm every day for the last week but visibility remained poor until Saturday when the clouds parted and it was a glorious bluebird. The snow has been incredibly light and fluffy – genuine powder which is unusual for New Zealand. All terrain is open at Treble Cone including many areas that didn’t open at all last season. The best skiing on the mountain is […] Conditions Report Marian Krogh | August 9, 2015 0 Comments
Squaw/Alpine Conditions Report: Just Hanging In There… Yesterday at Squaw Valley was rough. Cold, windy, bumpy, not much groomed, hard, and very little snow. I’d skied Squaw 3 days earlier and it’s amazing how much snow we lost in those three days. The park was holding up well, though. I saw Tanner Hall (at least I think it was him) throwing front flips and 720’s like they were nothing. Shirely lake was skiing OK and Siberia was pretty brutal. I wasn’t brave enough to try Granite Chief. Mountain Run is now melted out and closed so we’re downloading the rest of the season. […] Conditions Report Miles Clark | April 2, 2015 3 Comments
Mt. Baker Conditions Report: Rain, Rain Go Away It’s been a wet one in the Cascades but Mt. Baker’s upper snow pack is holding on like a champ and if you got up high earlier in the week you could get some goods. Baker received 2″ of new snow overnight Saturday, 4″ in 24 hours and we’ll take it! With 32″ at Heather Meadows base and 52″ at the base of Pan Dome, Baker got nailed with the warm front and precipitation all week. The temp […] Conditions Report Naomi VanPatten | February 8, 2015 0 Comments
Mt. Baker Conditions Report: A Much Needed Powder Day Mt. Baker had a powder day this past week on Monday and it was FUN, all things considered! It’s amazing what a little face shot can do for the soul. The Legendary Banked Slalom – Locals Qualifier also occurred that day, which is always a great day on the hill. New snow and a great event to get our minds off the lack of snow over a long holiday […] Conditions Report Naomi VanPatten | January 25, 2015 0 Comments
Whistler Conditions Report: Powder is Back Today was super fun up on the mountain. Some new snow and little crowds on Monday made for some nice laps. I went to Blackcomb in the morning as they normally get things open quicker. I went up Glacier and saw a big line up for Spankys as they had not dropped the rope yet. I then decided to traverse over to Chimney and found that not many people had been over their yet. By the time I got back to the top of Glacier Spankys was open and fresh. The snow today was firm dense powder. You would glide on top of it most of the time, but the depth was there when you slashed or came upon a nice wind loaded area […] Conditions Report Peter Wentz | January 19, 2015 0 Comments
Mt Baker Conditions Report: Start Dancing! Well it’s been a rough start to the season in Washington but blue bird days at the hill prove to always be better than a day in an office. Despite sun, warm temps and rain, Baker is still holding their snowpack with 40″ at Heather Meadows base and 61″ at the base of Pan Dome. Mother Nature is being selfish for us but mid-week we saw sunny, springtime conditions that can sometimes be welcomed […] Conditions Report Naomi VanPatten | January 10, 2015 0 Comments
Mt Baker New Year’s Conditions Report: 10″ on the Way Early in the week we had some beautiful (somewhat rare) blue bird days that remained cold so the powder from the prior week stuck around and welcomed skiers and riders to the New Year right. Lots of hikers were visible from chair 8 on the Shuksan Arm earning their turns in the untouched pow. The Canyon and the natural half pipe were open which made for some added fun. It warmed up later in the week but then started snowing and it’s currently dumping. Fingers crossed the freezing levels don’t get too low next week. Here’s to a happy and healthy new year with lots of pow! […] Conditions Report Naomi VanPatten | January 4, 2015 0 Comments
Winter Park, CO Conditions Report: The Return of Pow November in Colorado was a tale of two halves. It truly was in like a lamb, out like a lion. December seems to be shaping up the same way. After 12 days of no significant snowfall, a southwest flow hit the San Juan’s late on Saturday. By Saturday night, the flow shifted to northwest and the whole state was getting the goods. By early Monday morning, 18″ had fallen on Berthoud Pass. After skiing the pass on Sunday, we thought Mary Jane’s glades would be prime on Tuesday. Lake Tahoe Snowfall Totals & Photos: Up to 23″ of New Snow Lake Tahoe just got it’s first real storm of the 2014/15 winter season. It was a wet one with snow levels hovering around 7,500-feet for the most part. We had a Winter Storm Warning from 4pm Tuesday until 4am today. Sugar Bowl is the big winner again with 23″ of snow from this storm and shockingly, Kirkwood got the lowest snowfall numbers. Kirkwood got mostly rain and only ended up with 8 inches from this storm. We skied Squaw yesterday and it was raining to the top. Looks like today will be about the same as yesterday. We were soaked after about 2 hours of skiing. […] SnowBrains | December 4, 2014 1 Comment
Squaw Valley Weekend Report: 1st Sneaker Powder Day of the Year? I love a good sneaker pow day. Sometimes it’s raining at the base, sometimes the snow is slushy and wet, sometimes the wind is so strong it scours whole faces—but a sneaker pow day is all the more enjoyable because it’s unexpected. Most people stay home. Conditions seem sub-optimal. But the actual skiing? It ends up being holy-f***-fun. That didn’t happen today. It started snowing in the valley last night around 1am and by morning there were accumulations of about 1-3 inches of slushy snow on the ground. That slushy snow quickly melted as it began to rain. The rain […] Conditions Report Guest Author | November 30, 2014 1 Comment
Squaw Cushing Crossing + Conditions Update | Photo Tour Spring Corn, large swaths of dirt, closed lifts and the Cushing Crossing sums up the current conditions at Squaw Valley. Valiant knights (such as the one pictured above), bravely hurtled themselves through the piercing wind toward the pond risking life and limb for the sole purpose of our entertainment. And before the festivities kicked off there was plenty of ripping […] Eric Bryant | April 14, 2013 2 Comments
Squaw Conditions Report: KT’s Last Weekend | Photo Tour It’s that time of year when Squaw’s impressive fleet of chairs begins to diminish at a rapid pace, with the lower mountain lifts dropping like flies. While the skiing is still holding up decently well, the rate of snow loss is rather alarming. Red Dog and Squaw Creek are done for the year, and KT will be soon to follow.
