Who’s Got Snow? | Graph of Western Snowpack Right Now It’s been a wild year in the West winter. The Pacific Northwest has been enduring torrential rain, California is going through a historical drought, Utah is below average, while Wyoming, Idaho and Montana having been getting tons of snow. Colorado is a mixed bag so far this year with most of the state seeing below average snowpacks. What Region of the Western USA Got The Most Snow This Year? Much of the Western USA did not have a good year. Or should we say “had one of the worst years on record.” Lake Tahoe had it’s second worst winter on record with only 174″ of snow. As you can see on this SNOWTEL map, the the Sierra Nevada mountains in California were saw snowfall totals below 40% of normal. Taos, New Mexico saw around 42% of normal snowfall.
