Boyne (owners of Crystal Mountain, WA – Brighton, UT – Boyne, MI) tried to buy Solitude ski resort in September. The deal fell through in the eleventh hour when a finiancier pulled out last minute. Today, Deer Valley, UT has announced that they will purchase Solitude, UT. Deer Valley will begin operating Solitude on May 1st, 2015. Solitude At Solitude | Opening Day Conditions Report

As we have been reporting nearly everyday lately, things in Utah have been off to banger start. Backcountry skiing has been solid for a month now for those willing to work for their turns. Then there are people who aren’t as motivated to work for turns. For those of us we now have Solitude Ski Resort and one other in Utah open daily for skiing and riding. Today I found myself in a canyon I am not as accustomed to as I am Little Cottonwood and my home resort of Snowbird.
