Squaw *not* Closing Weekend Video Report: Fun In The Sun Squaw refuses to let go of winter, with their closing date pushed back to this this upcoming Sunday. However, with only Gold Coast remaining on the schedule (due to the fact you likely won’t be able to make it down to Siberia on Saturday) this past Sunday felt a bit like closing day. People got their final rides in on Siberia (which was the first detachable quad in North America […] Conditions Report SnowBrains | April 21, 2015 1 Comment
Tahoe Storm Delivers, 2+ Feet of SNOW for Squaw! Photo Tour: For the first time this year, Tahoe caught a break and received double the amount of snow forecasted over the weekend. With easily two feet of snow on the upper mountain, the skiing as well as the vibe came alive at Squaw. Snow fell most of Saturday and Sunday brought intermittent clouds and deep snow. As to be expected, the masses were out and hungry for pow but the lines (save Granite Chief on Sunday), remained manageable. On Saturday the only things to open on the upper mountain were Siberia and Shirley (as well as the beginner terrain) […] Conditions Report SnowBrains | March 1, 2015 0 Comments
Febr-uly Squaw Valley Conditions Update + Photo Tour If January in Tahoe is Junuary, then would that mean that February is Februly? So far the month has brought temperatures far above average to California (and most of the West Coast). While we did get a good bit of snow above 8,000′ a week and a half ago, we are right back in the midst of day time highs near 60, sunshine, and a rapidly diminishing snow pack. Surprisingly the skiing is still quite fun, with Sun Bowl holding some nice spring turns, corn snow off Granite Chief Peak, […] Conditions Report SnowBrains | February 20, 2015 0 Comments

Hanging By A Thread: Squaw Conditions Update + Photo Tour While a week with day time highs in the mid 50’s has done nothing good for Squaw,ย the skiing is still surprisingly ripping. The majority of the mountain is still nice and smooth, and with high day time temperatures and low nightly temperatures we are in the midst of a nice little corn cycle. The turns off of Headwall and […] Conditions Report SnowBrains | January 10, 2015 0 Comments
Dust On Crust On Corn | Squaw Conditions Update + Video After rain to the top two nights ago followed by a light dusting of snow last night, conditions at Squaw were some classic dust on crust today.ย Yesterday lifts were on Patrol Hold in the AM due to conditions that were simply too firm and fast, but the inch and a half of snow we received over night was just […] Conditions Report SnowBrains | March 7, 2014 0 Comments
People, Powder, and Suspicious Wind Hold: Squaw and Andesite Ridge Conditions Update + Video Old man winter continued to deliver for Tahoe today, bringing a few inches of new snow and long lines back to Squaw Valley. After a rare sleeper powder day at Squaw yesterday, the masses were back out and looking to get into the goods. Unfortunately high winds left us with only Shirley Lake on the upper mountain, and KT down low. Up high the snow was great, wintery pow and down low things were a bit on the wet side but the skiing was still great […] Conditions Report SnowBrains | February 28, 2014 35 Comments
