Ski Areas Across the U.S. Still Reporting Significant Storm Totals

Despite the U.S. ski industry shutting and the world going on lockdown, snow is still falling. Perhaps Mother Nature has a sense of humor. These are the resorts that have been getting some good snowfall still, according to the NOAA:

Lake Tahoe Snowfall Totals and Photos Today: Up to 22″ of Snow

The “Severe” storm that was supposed to clobber Tahoe last night is widely being considered a dud. The main issue was that the wind shifted to coming from the South, which didn’t give it the power to get over the Pacific Crest and into the Tahoe Basin. West of the crest did very well with 12-16 inches being reported. The East side of the Tahoe Basin did poorly with only 3-5 inches being reported. Lake Tahoe Rose 6″ in Latest Storm | That’s 17.3 Billion Gallons of Water…

Update to yesterday’s fun facts now that we have the storm total data in…Lake Tahoe rose nearly 6 inches over the past 4 days. Squaw Valley, CA = 54″ of Snow in 48 Hours & Closed Yesterday

Squaw Valley received 54″ of snow in the past 48 hours on the upper mountain and 61″ of snow in the past 7 days on the upper mountain. Yet, they only received 7″ of snow snow on the lower mountain in the past 48 hours. The R-word was around… Squaw had to close yesterday due to high avalanche danger. Alpine Meadow was open, but not the Summit chair. Hey skiers and riders- I apologize to report that Squaw Valley will be closed today (2/9/14).
