GoPro is awarding the best videos from all around the world. The one below shows Aymar Navarro hitting the amazing Cerro Torrecillas, in Las Leñas, Argentina.
This video is of Las Lenas ripper Adria Millan tearing Torrecillas apart in the Las Lenas, Argentina backcountry. This guy knows all the best lines at Las Lenas by heart and can hit them all with confidence. Things are shaping up nicely at Las Lenas right now with good snow up high and decent storm just started hitting Lenas today. 25″ of snow are forecast in Las Lenas this week. Boom. One of our Las Lenas, Argenitna reporters, Adria Millan, finally got access to the big terrain in Las Lenas yesterday in decent conditions and he went off. He knows these lines as well as anyone and he sent this line full bore. The only way we know the snow wasn’t perfect is because Adria didn’t throw a 360º. The guy throws at least one 360 nearly every run normally. 38″ of snow are in the forecast for Las Lenas is the next 6 days. Lets hope this forecast holds up! Looks like the season might be coming to an end soon. Rumors have spread that the 8th of September has been set as the closing date. Last week was warm and we enjoyed spring skiing conditions. The storm that was supposed to hit Las Leñas last weekend with about a half a meter of snow was a disappointment. It started to snow a little bit on Saturday around noon and continued on and off until Sunday. But it didn’t really accumulate in the valley, but up high and in Valle Hermoso it snowed quit a lot. On Sunday pretty much everything was closed due to high winds […]
After getting about a foot of fresh snow on Wednesday, August 6th, 2014, the Marte chair opened again on Thursday. Super excited for another Marte powder day! Unluckily, the wind really worked the snow pack the night before and the south face of Marte wasn’t nearly as good as it was on Monday, August 4th, 2014. It was wind packed and wind “carton” and some pow patches. Eduardo and Cerro Martin were still in really good shape with great pow. It warmed up a lot […]
Our reporters in Las Lenas, Argentina have been getting after it. On July 20th, 2014, they went after the famous zone of Torrecillas. It’s about a 2 hour hike and well worth it. The snow looks like it was smooth and OK but not perfect and that didn’t slow these guys down at all. Make sure to skip to 1:43 to watch Adria’s line. This kid has been going off lately. Again, this snow isn’t perfect, but the guy throws a huge 360 in a sketchy spot, then hucks a peppery nasty blind cliff and makes it all look easy. We really hope it snows in Las Lenas this year simply […]
Las Lenas ski resort in Argentina just had a pretty darned good powder day last week. It still appears that the inbounds stuff is thin and sketchy, but it’s obvious from this report that the backcountry is skiing well. The terrain is so big in Las Lenas, that you just need a bit of powder to make for an unreal experience. “I skied las lenas the last week and the snow condition were incredible! […]
I am very sad to report that 24-year-old Spanish freeskier Jordi Tenas has passed away in an avalanche in Las Leñas, Argentina. Jordi has been a fixture in the Las Leñas community for the past handful of years and will be greatly missed. It’s being reported by El Sol that Jordi was in the Las Leñas backcountry near the popular ski […]
