A Tale of Ruidoso, New Mexico’s Historic Storm Last Season Every skier has a day during each season that sticks out in their mind more than others. One that is especially deep or the conditions especially right; a day where the stoke is unusually high, even for a pow day; the kind of day that gives you the mid-summer blues when you stop and reminisce. That day for me was […] Trip Report Martin Kuprianowicz | July 19, 2019 1 Comment
Alta, UT Report: Skiing The Apron in July Snow junkies and I alike would certainly agree with skiing legendย Glen Plake on this one after skiing The Apron in July. A buddy and I hit it last Wednesday, July 10th. “You ski the snow on the ground, not the date on the calendar.” Alta has been closed since late April yet allows uphill access for hiking/skiing to the […] Trip Report Martin Kuprianowicz | July 13, 2019 0 Comments
Snowboard Van Life: An Epic, Mountain Roadtrip The rock climbing community is often accredited for revolutionizing and popularizing the full-time pursuit of an outdoor sport by converting a van into a portable living space and gear room that can be taken to any new project. Inhabitants of their van as dedicated climbers are (respectfully) dubbed as ‘dirtbags.’ Jaden Munro has transferred the vanlife lifestyle to the […] Trip Report Sydney Stephens | July 12, 2019 0 Comments
Mt. Shasta, CA Report: Shasta’s Going Off Right Now – Come and Get It! Report from June 23rd, 2019 Come one, come all, to one of the great centers of California backcountry summer skiing: Mt. Shasta, CA. People certainly got the memo that Shasta has been going off. I rolled up to the usually sleepy and very rural Brewer Creek trailhead (still impassible to cars to the actual trailhead due to snow) on Saturday […] Conditions Report Roger Romani | June 25, 2019 0 Comments
Beartooth Basin, WY Report: Winter Conditions on the Summer Solstice Report from June 22nd, 2019 Clearly, Beartooth Basin โ the cash only, summer-only ski area located on the border of Montana/Wyoming, didnโt receive the memo that summer had officially arrived. Because they had gotten 3-4 inches of new snow the day before (on the summer solstice!), the resort was closed last Friday and had a delayed opening when we arrived […] Conditions Report Martin Kuprianowicz | June 25, 2019 0 Comments
Mount Tukuhnikivatz, UT Report: The Manti La Sal’s – Skiing Southern Utah’s Hidden Gem Report from May 10th, 2019 At 5 am we awoke to a cool morning in Indian Creek off highway 211 near Moab. Although we had been rock climbing in the scorching heat of the desert for days prior, we scurried our things into the back of Nick’s truck and hit the road to do one of our favorite things ever […] Trip Report Martin Kuprianowicz | June 7, 2019 0 Comments
Memorial Day Memoir @ Mammoth Mountain, CA – 2018 Even on the driest of years, Mammoth Mountain consistently remains open until โat leastโ Memorial Day (late May.) On massive years, they run the upper lifts until Augustโฆyes, a non-glaciated mountain that runs lifts until August. If I recall correctly, the years of August 1995 & 2017 to name a few. On a normal year, the goal is run lifts through the July 4th weekend. Trip Report Casey Cane | May 23, 2019 0 Comments
