Nothing But Spines in Whistler: Peter Wentz’s Spine POV Peter Wentz is a good buddy of mine from Squaw and Bariloche who is now the SnowBrains Whistler reporter.ย The kid can shred and knows where the good terrain in the Whistler area lives. Last winter, he got the chance at a few spectacular spine skiing days via motorsled and helicopter up in Whistler.ย This is what he saw. SnowBrains | October 10, 2015 0 Comments

Whistler Will Do Summer Snowmaking To Prevent Glacial Retreat This is unprecedented. Whistler Blackcomb will be performing snowmaking this summer in an attempt to stop the glacial retreat of the Hortsman glacier where they perform their summer skiing. “The pilot project will involve the testing of four low-energy consumption snowmaking guns in the Horstman Hut area to determine if a full-scale snowmaking system is an option to prevent further recession of the Horstman Glacier.” – Whistler Blackcomb Whistler will begin installing this new snowmaking system in late July and they […] Industry News SnowBrains | June 15, 2015 4 Comments

Whistler, B.C. Conditions Report: Still Ripping Spring time in Whistler always promotes good fun, with long days making it possible to do many activities. The snow is slushy and smooth, the sun is out, goggle tans are in full swing, and everyone is having a good time on the hill. This spring has been interesting as Whistler Blackcomb decided to leave Whistler open into the late months of winter instead of Blackcomb. This has actually been really fun for me as I rarely ride Whistler. Lapping peak chair with no lines, and doing side hits and wind lips […] Conditions Report Peter Wentz | May 22, 2015 0 Comments
Whistler Conditions Report: All Time April It is safe to say that April has been the best month of the season for powder. It has been going off in Whistler for the last two weeks, with deep storms and cold temperatures compared to the rest of the winter. The alpine has been all time with new snow every couple of days, making it fresh and fun. There has been some wind with these most recent storms making some pockets super deep, while other ridges are icy and have variable snow. Crowds have been pretty small during the weekdays, and not too bad on the weekends either. This week there have been more people on the mountain and in the bars due to WSSF (World Ski and Snowboard Festival). Conditions Report Peter Wentz | April 15, 2015 1 Comment
Blackcomb, B.C. to Close One Month Early + Whistler Powder Report: This past week has been a mash of snow, rain, freezing levels rising and falling, and clouds. Up high on the mountain has been the place to be for the entire season and that is still true today. Sunday was by far the best snow day we have had in a while. There was over 30 cm of fresh that day with lower freezing levels. It was snowing in the parking lots for some parts of the day which has not occurred in a hot second. It was socked in all day so people were sticking to the trees and up high near rocks for visibility. Over the night rain continued […] Conditions Report Peter Wentz | March 30, 2015 2 Comments
