Report from Saturday, January 28, 2023

After skiing Brundage Resort for three days, a trip to Central Idaho wouldn’t be complete without a trip to Tamarack Resort.

It was about a 35-minute drive from the place we were staying in McCall, and there were two inches of new snow on the ground as we pulled into the parking lot.

We jumped on the Tamarack Express lift and immediately took the Summit Express chair to the top of the mountain.

The first part of the morning was spent lapping the Summit. It was cold, snowing, and a little foggy, but the snow skied pretty deep in spots, and the groomers were fast and fun.

Later in the morning, we rode the Wildwood Express, where the visibility was better, and the snow was even faster.

There was a freeride competition on the “Hoo Ya!” run, and we stopped to watch competitors throw down some tricks.

We retook the Summit chair for a top-to-bottom 2,800-foot run before heading in for lunch.

The afternoon was spent mostly ripping groomers off the Tamarack Express. It was still snowing lightly, and the clouds kept creeping further down the mountain, but the fun factor stayed high. Tamarack is a cruiser mountain with a lot of potential on a legit powder day. What a fun place to ski.
