Taylor Swift is one of the most famous people in the world, with hundreds of millions of fans spread out across the globe. The Swifties (Taylor Swift’s Fans) love her music, honesty, and how she is such a truly nice person. Her popularity is widespread and reaches many platforms, whether in Hollywood, music, fashion, or the NFL. In 2023, Forbes ranked her as the fifth-most powerful woman in the world. According to Forbes, Swift became a billionaire in October 2023 with an estimated net worth of $1.1 billion. Swift’s music and tours have generated billions of dollars, and it seems that anything she touches turns to gold.

Having that kind of power and money gives Swift a lot of leverage and the ability to do things the average person could not even think about doing. True Swifties know that ‘Tay Tay’ is a passionate skier and has taken almost every one of her boyfriends, from Justin Bieber to Joe Alwyn, on holidays to her favorite resort, Park City, Utah. The song “Out of the Woods” was inspired by an ill-fated ski trip that ended with a snowmobiling accident and 20 stitches for Harry Styles.

So it should not come as a surprise for a celebrity who craves privacy above all else that Swift is planning on purchasing land outside Bozeman, Montana, to build her private luxury ski resort. The property, which is listed at $25 million and is 520 acres, consists of streams, ponds, mountains, and a private bridge to enter it.

Bozeman is no stranger to exclusive ski resorts, with the Yellowstone Club only one and a half hours away. Joining the Yellowstone Club costs $400,000 and another $40,000 a year in membership fees, and new members will need to buy or build a luxe mountain home at a minimum of $3 million or more once they have been invited to join the club. There has been no statement on how much it will cost to join Swift’s private ski club.

However, Swift has been known for giving to her fans and staff. She has even invited some of her fans to her home to listen to music and even baked them cookies. Swift also gave her crew bonuses totaling $55 million working on the Eras Tour. So, it would be out of character if Swift would charge obscene amounts of money for someone to ski at her resort.

Swift’s early roots were growing up in Pennsylvania and spending time as a child on her father’s Christmas tree farm outside Reading. Her childhood memories of having fun playing and being on the Christmas tree farm in the winter might have led her to purchase the land in Montana to build a private ski resort. Owning a private ski resort will enable Swift to do the two things celebrities want: privacy and security. It will also allow her to spend time with family and friends in an environment without worrying about the crowds and paparazzi.

The land for the resort is located in the Gallatin Range, directly east of Big Sky Ski Resort, and runs north and south between Bozeman and Yellowstone National Park. The Gallatin Range is located south of Bozeman and includes more than 10 mountains over 10,000 feet in elevation. The highest peak in the range is Electric Peak at 10,969 feet. Six mountain ranges surround Bozeman: the Gallatin Range, Bridger Range, Madison Range, Crazy Mountains, Absarokas, and Tobacco Roots. Gallatin River could provide water for snowmaking for the private ski area.

This business decision by Swift may surprise some people as it is outside her core competencies, but it should not. Swift is a very intelligent businesswoman who has been successful at building an empire through strategic partnerships and great marketing. She has employed Mountain Works to plan a ski resort, and they have created the likes of Niseko, Vail, and Beaver Creek. With Swift’s success, people should be looking at what other big business ventures she has planned next.

  1. Maybe don’t develop more pristine Greater Yellowstone land? There’s rich people only skiing near Big Sky and rich people only skiing now at Powder Mountain unfortunately. That should be good enough for her. This is why nobody should be a billionaire. Nobody can tell them no when they are wrong…and too many people aren’t too bright and will support it.
