Trail Ridge Road Through Rocky Mountain National Park, CO Closes Today Due to SNOW

Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park will temporarily close at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, October 9, in anticipation of a major October snowstorm that is forecast to dump 12 inches of fresh snow on the mountains of Colorado.

Closures will be in place on Rainbow Curve on the eastern side and Milner Pass on the western side of the road, according to a news release by the NPS.

Old Fall River Road will also remain closed to all users due to ongoing road maintenance. The road will reopen to bicycles, leashed pets, and walkers from Friday, October 11 through Saturday, November 30.

The 48-mile long road is the highest continuous paved road in the US.

The Alpine Visitor Center will be closed its doors for the season last night and the Trail Ridge Store will close for the season this afternoon, Wednesday, October 9.

At 12,183-feet, Trail Ridge Road through Rocky Mountain National Park, CO is the United State’s highest continuous paved road.
